Accounting Technician - Property Management - Montreal

Full-Time Regular Position

Based in Montreal and reporting to the Financial Director, the Accounting Technician is responsible for managing accounting and financial transactions for designated property portfolios and properly applying the company's accounting and financial processes.

  • Generate invoices related to properties (rent roll, security deposits, termination fees, increases/adjustments) and review charge codes (in collaboration with Lease Administrators).
  • Produce accounting entries related to designated property portfolios.
  • Conduct preliminary accounting calculations (rent increases following the budget exercise, indexing, proportional rents, accruals, standard adjustments of the 13th invoice, calculations and adjustments related to concern periods (e.g., utilities), recharges to tenants (including electricity charges related to meters), tenant improvement allowances, etc.) in coordination with Lease Administrators.
  • Reconcile general ledger account 1215 and petty cash.
  • Validate the accounting of parking revenues.
  • Validate bank reconciliations.
  • Approve tenant recharges.
  • Validate credit notes for tenants.
  • Prepare payables for property taxes and other utilities.
  • Adjust escrow amounts.
  • Process and track billing for real estate brokers.
  • Measure and monitor the entry/deadline dates of payables related to designated property portfolios (in collaboration with Property Managers).
  • Reconcile tenant account statements (in collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Coordinator and based on inputs from property managers).
  • Provide support to Property Management Accountants and periodic reporting to the Chief Accountant of Property Management.
  • Manage documentation (nomenclature, document retention, file management, and organization of digital directories).
  • Provide training and mentorship.
